Pulse oximeters, for example have greatly increased in popularity with sales in the United States of the devices reaching over two hundred million by the middle of the last decade. By 2013, sales of these devices are expected to reach over three hundred million each year. Currently over half of the medical equipment exported from China is pulse oximeters.
